Naturally Occuring Retirement Community
In addition to the activities, social services and congregate meal programs at Fulton Center, Hudson Guild provides Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) supportive services to the nearly 500 seniors living in Elliott-Chelsea Houses. These seniors are offered social, recreational, and health-related supports to help them age-in-place through partnerships with St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital Center, New York City Housing Authority and Visiting Nurse Service of New York. To supplement other NORC services as well as offerings at the Adult Services at the Fulton Center, the Guild offers wellness and enrichment activities at the Elliott Center, including weekly yoga, tai chi, chair aerobics, bingo, ESL, healthy living, needlework, crafts, living with loss and walking club. These group activities help participants address physical and health issues related to lack of physical activity, social isolation and loneliness.
