50-Plus from NY Office of CB Richard Ellis Help Upgrade Hudson Guild Fulton Center
More than 50 CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) volunteers from across the firm's New York Tri-State offices joined nonprofit Rebuilding Together's New York City affiliate on Friday, September 23, to refurbish Hudson Guild community center's Fulton Senior Center, located at 119 Ninth Avenue in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.
This project was part of CBRE's 2011 "Get Out and Give Back" BuildMonth, in which nearly 20 offices across the U.S. are assisting with housing rebuilding projects for the underprivileged and homeless in their communities in September and October. This annual effort is the signature event of the CBRE Shelter Program, which focuses on providing shelter and housing to individuals in need. The shelter initiative is a cornerstone of the Company's corporate philanthropy program, CBRE Cares.
Working alongside Rebuilding Together-an organization dedicated to preserving affordable homeownership and revitalizing neighborhoods-CBRE volunteers gave the facility's library and activity room fresh coats of paint, installed shelving and furnishings, and built benches for the garden. The upgrades will help Hudson Guild continue to pursue its mission of providing critical services and programs to members of the surrounding neighborhood-with a focus on individuals in need-to ensure a vibrant, safe and healthy community. Employee donations, supplemented by the CB Richard Ellis Foundation's fund-matching contribution, financed the $10,000 project.
This project was one of several completed across the U.S. as part of BuildMonth - by CBRE offices in California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Washington. CBRE provided employees with paid time off for their participation in BuildMonth projects.
